Hello and welcome to this site.
From a young age I have always had a keen interest in natural and holistic therapies.
After six years in Hawaii, I graduated as a Massage Therapist from The Hawaiian College of Clinical Massage in 1996. During this period I also learnt Reiki becoming a Reiki Master in 1997. While in Hawaii, I practiced at the Therapeutic Massage Centre in Honolulu, as well as working on professional athletes as a Sports Massage Therapist.
Since moving to England I studied Shiatsu at The Shiatsu College in Brighton for three years, graduating from this college in 2001.
As well as practicing Shiatsu privately, I am actively involved in the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis patients at the Southwick Multiple-Sclerosis Centre. I have been involved in a research project which is assessing the benefits of Shiatsu for people with MS.
I am also a fully qualified Counsellor with a diploma in Person-Centred Counselling from Brighton University. www.catarinarato.com
I am a member of the Shiatsu Society and of the British association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I abide by their Ethical Frameworks for Good Practice.
